STATION COORDINATOR - POLICE DEPARTMENT

Pay Grade 53     Pay Range:  $16.19 to $22.66 plus benefits

New employees start at the beginning of pay range

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

A job share in which two individuals share the 40 hour position may be considered

The City of Prescott Department of Police Department is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and collaborative professional for the position of Station Coordinator. Under general supervision of the Records Supervisor, the ideal candidate will join a team of professionals working within the police department to serve the needs of the community. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and writing skills and a desire to work as a team to support common goals and objectives.    

 

Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent. At least one (1) year of experience interacting with members of the public, investigating crimes, documenting incidents, and working with multiple software based computer systems preferred. Must possess a valid Arizona Class D Commercial Driver's License. Must successfully pass a complete background investigation, including polygraph examination, drug test, credit check, driving history check, and verbal interview. 

 

Tasks: Under the general supervision Records Supervisor within the Police Department, take initial reports of criminal activity or other police related concerns via telephone, on-line, or in person and record and document the incident in an appropriate manner; interview witnesses; provide visitor and general information to customers; communicate with the general public on information regarding special events and programs; review and follow-up on incident reports from officers and detectives; testify clearly and concisely in a court of law; support investigators as needed as a scribe and create detailed transcripts of activity. Provide support within the records division section when necessary by filing and processing departmental paperwork and completing records requests. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge of: Police and court procedures, and/or willingness to learn about them; effective communication practices; multiple computer software programs including Word and Excel.

 

Skill and Ability to:  Provide excellent customer service through positive and professional communication; resolve customer inquiries, requests and complaints; build and maintain effective working relationships within a team; communicate effectively and efficiently; follow policies and procedures to ensure tasks and equipment are operated safely; demonstrate a positive attitude; demonstrate a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment; exercise sound judgment and effective problem solving; collect and organize facts and data both orally and in writing; understand and follow verbal and written instructions; accurately record field data manually and by using computer programs. Applicant must obtain ACJIS certification within six months of hire.

 

Physical and Visual Ability: Sufficient to effectively and safely perform duties as required. Lift 25-35 pounds, and to safely operate a City vehicle as required.

 

Hearing and Speaking Ability:  Sufficient to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person, over the radio and by telephone.
