Utility Worker – Wastewater Collection - Temporary

Public Works Department

Hiring Range: $17.49 per hour

Full Pay Range: $17.49 to $26.23 per hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The City of Prescott Department of Public Works is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable and collaborative professional for the City's Wastewater Collections team, for a temporary assignment in the position of Utility Worker. The duration for this temporary position is unknown. Under general supervision of the Wastewater Collection Supervisor(s), the ideal candidate will join a team of professionals performing Wastewater Collection daily operations & maintenance tasks. The successful candidate will possess excellent physical and technical skills to support team goals and objectives.

Essential Duties:

· Inspect, maintain and repair the sanitary sewer collection system to ensure safe and efficient operation.

· Inspect sewer lines, manholes, and lift stations.

· Operate a variety of complex sewer line cleaning equipment, including hydro-cleaners and other related equipment to remove debris from sewer lines and wet wells.

· Utilize hand tools, jack hammers, whackers, digging bars, shovels and other related tools or equipment as required.

· Inspect sewer line cleaning equipment, power tools, hand tools, vehicles, and other large equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

· Perform confined space entries.

· Provide quality customer service to address citizen complaints or problems, provide requested information, and/or take the appropriate measure to ensure an expedient resolution of citizen satisfaction.

· Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

· Assume responsibility for other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and experience comparable to one-year full time journey level construction, maintenance, or equipment operation. Must possess a valid Arizona Class D Driver's License. Should this position become permanent, must possess a valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement or must obtain within six (6) months of hire, and must possess an Arizona Grade I Wastewater Collection System Operator certification or obtain within one (1) year of hire.
